Hunchback of Notre Dame is a 1996 American animated musical drama film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation for Walt Disney Pictures. The 34th Disney animated feature film, the film is based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name. The plot centers on Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame, and his struggle to gain acceptance into society.

This film has been praised by Strider because, unlike most Disney films, it has a surprisingly dark tone including genoicide, torture, damnation, and even (though attempted) infanticide that's used so well throughout the whole film. The villain, Frollo, is easily the darkest villain that Disney ever came up with because he burns Paris to the ground (even children were involved) and has started an entire genoicide against the Gypsies, and that's where the character gets so much praise.

However, his only (albeit relatively minor) complaint is the 3 gargoyles (Victor, Hugo and Laverne) since they distract the main tone of the film by being general comic relieves and serve absolutely zero purpose excluding that. They were added to the film to sell merchandise and to keep the movie at a G-rating with their more light-hearted presence.
